Trumpet artist, composer and producer Daniel Rosenboom has been called “a phenomenon” by the LA Times and “one of the most original, exciting, adventurous groups in L.A. right now” by the LA Weekly. Daniel Rosenboom is one of the leading lights of the West Coast new music and jazz scene.

Dublab is an online radio collective devoted to the growth of positive music, arts and culture that has developed a world-wide following since starting in 1999. Popular collaborating Dublab artist Benedek’s music is summed up nicely in the excerpt from a recent Pitchfork review: “boogie, funk, modern soul and lost R&B to create a strange yet danceable new world of sound.”

Group 5 is comprised of 5 veteran musicians who have toured and recorded with a wide range of major artist including, Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, Freddie Hubbard, Peter Frampton, Jeff Beck, John Williams, and Randy Newman. Using the classic jazz quintet format as a starting point, Group 5 moves that tradition forward by drawing on the wide range and experience of its members, and incorporating a wide variety of musical genres and influences.

SPARC is honored to have our own Jaz Sawyer, accomplished jazz drummer conduct these free Rhythm Workshops for Families at the SPARC Gallery. What is rhythm? How do you keep a beat? Participants will explore different percussion instruments and learn about the percussion family. The best part is you get to play and have fun!
